Volkswagen to pay $1.2B in settlement with dealers

Volkswagen has agreed to pay its U.S. dealers up to $1.2 billion to compensate them for losses they said they suffered as a result of the company’s emissions cheating scandal.
Volkswagen revealed the settlement late Friday in a federal court filing.
A year ago, Volkswagen was forced to stop sales of diesel-powered vehicles in the U.S. due to so-called defeat devices that allowed hundreds of thousands of cheat on emissions tests.
