'Save the Aleppo children' - protesters call for British government action
Hundreds of demonstrators have gathered in central London, to pile pressure on the British government to do more to end the bloodshed in Syria.
They gathered near Downing Street to raise the plight of children in Aleppo in particular.
Protesters held placards reading “Save Aleppo” and “Save the Aleppo children.”
Actress Carey Mulligan was among those supporting the action.
“This has to end today, it can’t carry on. 191 children have died in the last month and it’s just unacceptable, so this is what today is about: just saying that enough is enough,” said Mulligan, who is also a global ambassador for ‘War Child.’
British Prime Minister Theresa May said on Friday that the EU must consider all options to put pressure on Russia and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to stop attacks on Aleppo.
She stressed that she wants to see a robust and united message over the conflict.
