Road Conditions In Mumbai India - MotorBeam

http://www.motorbeam.com/ finds out how the roads are in Mumbai, India. If you think roads in India are bad, you are right, very right. Every year the roads are made but every year they break with more potholes than craters on the moon. This happens because roads are made of very poor quality. A tender (auction) system is done where the lowest bidder is given the contract to make the roads. There is no ceiling on the auction amount and people underbid heavily just to win the contract. So if it's going to take $100 (minimum) to construct a road, people bid $40. This way they get the contract. Naturally it's not possible to meet quality at that price.

We have sped this video to more than twice the speed, because we are driving very slowly over the millions of craters on the road
