DC residents to vote on becoming 51st state

On November 8th, Washington residents will vote on whether DC should keep its status as a federal district, or become a state with full representation in Congress. Local activists hope a Yes vote will help their cause, but even if the referendum passes, Congress will need to take action for DC to become the 51st US state.
