Florida’s offense shines in their Spring Game but questions remain defensively. Hello College Football fans this is Dana Ward with Gamblers Televisions college football report. The Florida Gators behind Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow looked good offensively in their spring game on Saturday. The Gators showed off a running game as running back Chris Rainey rushed for 75 yards and USC transfer Emmanuel Moody rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown. Tebow looked good in his spring outing completing 13-21 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns despite playing with a 102 fever. Florida once again will be a high scoring offense this season behind Tebow. The addition of Moody and Rainey in the backfield should allow the Gators to run clock and preserve leads late in the game and keep their troubled defense off the field. It also means Tebow wont get physically worn down against the SEC’s physical defenses like he did last year. The Heisman trophy quarterback rushed the ball far too many times in 2007 and took too many hits against the best defenses from college football. Florida had many questions last season defensively and despite their good offensive showing, the Gators defense tackled poorly and may once again may be the reason why Florida wont make it to a BCS Bowl game. There is much work to do this off-season for the Florida Gators on defense. The Gators were embarrassed in their bowl loss to Michigan giving up 41 points and over 500 total yards in defeat as a 10-point favorite. Florida will be challenged in their non conference schedule as they host Miami Florida and travel to Florida St. Oddsmakers have posted Florida as an 8-1 favorite to win the BCS National Championship Game.
