Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin may be close to getting a head coaching job next season. USA Today’s Dan Wolken reports the University of Houston “is closing in on a decision” to hire Kiffin as its next head coach. However, Houston president Renu Khator must first sign off on the hire at a meeting Thursday. Former LSU head coach Les Miles, Houston coordinators Todd Orlando and Major Applewhite, and Oklahoma OC Lincoln Riley have also been top candidates. Kiffin has a 35-21 record in five seasons as a head coach with Tennessee and USC. He was fired by the Trojans during the 2013 season.
