An Afghan boy who captured the hearts of football fans around the world after wearing a homemade Lionel Messi shirt has finally met his hero.
Murtaza Ahmadi, six, was photographed wearing a jersey made from a plastic bag bearing Messi's name and number 10.
The child received a signed Barcelona shirt from Messi but, on Tuesday, the two met in Doha in partnership with Qatar's 2022 World Cup Supreme Committee.
"The image the world wanted to see," the Supreme Committee tweeted. "The six-year-old boy who dreamed of meeting his hero, #Messi, finally comes true."
Barcelona are currently in Qatar to play a friendly against Al Ahli on Tuesday and it's reported that Murtaza will walk out on to the pitch with Messi.
