Karan Johar's 40th birthday party was certainly the most anticipated bash of the year and everybody who is somebody wanted an invite to KJo's event. However, only a select few made it to the guest list and here's what Bollywood beauties chose to wear at the do

1. Kangana: Dressed to perfection in Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall 2012 gown at Karan Johar's was Kangana Ranuat. She teamed the belted dress with an Alexander McQueen clutch and her signature curls and minimal make-up rounded up the look.

2. Kareena Kapoor: While everyone else was dressed formally Kareena Kapoor treaded the short path. Kareena came to Karan's party wearing an All Saints dress and wore Jimmy Choo sandals with it.

3. Genelia D'Souza: Genelia D'souza slipped into a blue Jatin Verma creation for KJo's birthday bash. There was nothing to like about that gown and adding more woes to it were Genelia's black sandals. Neck-up she looked pretty but trust us that's where all good things come to an end..

4. Bipasha: Bipasha Basu displayed her sexy back to the fullest in this black Arpan Vohra ruffle gown. The Bengal belle totally worked this outfit and looked extremely sexy with those sleek tresses and just the right amount of make-up.

5. Preity Zinta: It was a red hot off-shoulder gown by Gauri and Nainika for Preity Zinta and we must say she totally floored us by her look. Curled bangs, a black clutch and that to-die-for smile completed her look.

6. Dia Mirza: Dia try something... new wearing the same design in different colours just don't work... at least not for us. Dia walked in wearing a shimmery Rocky S number with mesh detailing at Johar's party. Neck-up she looked as she usually does, nude pumps and metallic sandals rounded up the look for her.

7. Malaika Arora Khan: Malaika Arora Khan strutted in wearing a printed Roberto Cavalli gown and trust us only she can carry that plunging neckline. She left her tresses loose and accesorised the garment with a bracelet and clutch.

8. Sophie Choudry: Like Malaika, Sophie Choudry too opted for a Cavalli and hers was way better than the former's. Adding oodles of oomph to her dress was the thigh high slit and that plunging neckline, she added just the right amount of accessories and carried the daring dress with great élan.

9.Sonakshi: After a few good appearances, Sonakshi Sinha is back too her usual blah looks. Sonakshi was spotted in a Shantanu and Nikhil creation at Karan's party. The length of the gown was off and the net detailing on the gown attracted attention to her not so slim waist, she should totally avoid such designs.

10. Anushka : While majorly everyone chose to wear gowns for the party of the year, Anushka Sharma, it seems wanted to stand out from the crowd. The 'Band Baaja Baarat' girl wore a sequin suit by Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna for the much-talked about event.

11. Asin: Asin has lately upped her fashion game and for Johar's 40th birthday it was a Badgley Mischka off-shoulder white gown for the 'Housefull' beauty and we feel she looked stunning. She tied her hair into a bun, wore a necklace around her neck and silver sandals rounded up the look for her.

12. Karisma Kapoor: Karisma Kapoor looked every bit the diva she is in this blingy Hérve Léger dress. She tied her hair and teamed the gorgeous black outfit with a Bottega Veneta clutch and Christian Louboutin heels.

13. Priyanka Chopra: We almost screamed in horror when we saw Priyanka Chopra in this horrendous gown. Though her gown was a Dolce & Gabbana, it sadly looked terrible on her and on top of it all, those black-peep toes, I mean what was her stylist thinking.

14. Rani : Now this dress is a cross between maternity gown and silk lingerie and why Rani Mukerji chose to wear this, we fail to understand. The ill-fitted dress looked like an inflated satin sack on her, make-up and hair were done right, hmm at least something was right.

15. Parineeti: Okk this gown was nice but was just not made for Parineeti Chopra. Parineeti walked in wearing a Shantanu and Nikhil gown, which had a shimmery bustier. The silhouette of the gown didn't flatter her frame at all, the make-up too was garish.

16. Kiran Rao: Giving us a break from long gowns was Kiran Rao who draped a Gaurav Gupta sari, for the do. She looked adorable in this light hued embellished sari and teamed it with a silver clutch.
