Amazon reportedly acquired the rights for "The Big Sick" $12 million, making the film the biggest sale of the Sundance Film Festival. A bidding war broke out between Fox Searchlight, Netflix, Focus Features and Amazon shortly after the film's debut at the festival. The film follows the real life story of the film writer's Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon's relationship. The film, which was fully financed by FilmNation Entertainment, is expected to make a wide theatrical release.
