Electric trains in the Netherlands are now completely powered by wind energy. NS Dutch Railways partnered with energy company Eneco to use 2,200 wind turbines across the country to power their electric trains. A single windmill running for an hour can power a train for 120 miles. The Netherlands’ 600,000 daily train passengers now travel with no carbon footprint.
