The results clear the way for the rVSV-ZEBOV vaccine to be fast-tracked for approval. Merck, the vaccine’s manufacturer, has already created several hundred thousand doses in advance of approval, should an outbreak occur before then. After the devastating effects of the West African Ebola outbreak from 2013 to 2016, the hopes for the vaccine are high, and a piece of good news at the tail end of a trying year.
