Aussie man trapped in pond with just his nose above the water

CHARLOTTE BAY, AUSTRALIA — An Australian man is lucky to be alive after the tractor he was riding fell into a muddy water pit, trapping him for several hours.
Daniel Miller, 45, was doing some excavation work in his yard on Feb. 7, when the banks of a small dam fell apart under the weight of his tractor, causing the machine to topple over and trap him underneath.
With the 3-ton mini-excavator pushing down on his back, all Miller could do was try to hold a “cobra” yoga pose to arch his back and keep from going under. For five hours, Miller managed to keep his nose above water, occasionally yelling for help.
Luckily, a neighbor heard his cries, and called for emergency workers to free him.
When rescue crews finally arrived, they were amazed by Miller’s ability to stay alive for so long under that much pressure. They likened the feat to doing underwater pushups for hours. Miller explained that it was his determination to see his wife and children again that kept him afloat.
Now said to be recovering from mild hypothermia, Daniel Miller’s family is relieved he survived and will soon be okay.
