UPI.com reports that Researchers from the University of British Columbia have discovered that seniors from 11 high-income countries were not filling doctor's prescriptions due to cost. The study, published in BMJ Open, looked at the prevalence of filling or not filling prescriptions among seniors age 55 and older. In the United States, 16.8 percent of respondents reported skipping prescriptions due to cost. The second highest rate was in Canada with 8.3 percent, followed by Australia with 6.8 percent. The remaining countries had non-adherence rates of roughly 2 to 4 percent.
