Miletus is an ancient prominent Greek city on the western coast of Anatolia. Its ruins are located near the modern village of Balat in Aydin Province.

Miletus was the home of philosopher, mathematician and astronomer, Thales of Miletus (6th-5th century BC), and architect Isidore of Miletus. It also welcomed St Paul on his final journey to Rome.

Miletus has an impressive 25,000-seat Greek theater, reconstructed by the Romans, as well as a Temple of Apollo and a Byzantine church.
