Violent woman in viral video arrested in Singapore

A woman has been arrested after a video of her hitting two staff members of an optical shop in Tiong Bahru Plaza, Singapore went viral on Facebook.

In the video posted by Facebook user Gerald Teo, the woman was heard shouting expletives in the outlet of spectacle retail chain Owndays.

On Tuesday evening, Owndays posted a statement on its Facebook page giving an account of the incident. It said, “A female shopper came into our shop to hide from another lady who had become aggressive. Two of our team members attempted to assist the shopper and were assaulted by the aggressive lady. Our colleagues had been brave and maintained their professionalism despite repeated assaults by the angry lady. The police is currently investigating the matter and we are seeking legal advice.”

Singapore police said the 45-year-old woman was arrested in relation to the case and police investigations are ongoing.
