Theresa May calls for general election amid Brexit clash

U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May announced plans to hold an early election on June 8, despite previously rejecting the idea. “I have concluded the only way to guarantee certainty and stability for the years ahead is to hold this election and seek your support for the decisions I have to make." May noted that while the country together, politicians have not, complicating Brexit negotiations on leaving the European Union. The U.K. will hold an election because other parties are against May's Brexit plans.
