Rain Lab
Rain Lab is a new generation trip hop/world music duo from Istanbul that tells the stories of love and loss, beauty and truth in the style of modern times bards with an electronic twist. Turkish hiphop DJ and producer Da Poet’s elegant beats meet singer-songwriter Idil Mese’s distant and melancholic vocals and the result takes the audience to a fragile, highly emotional journey. Starting their career with the name Idil Mese & Da Poet, the duo got attention with their songs Mountain Sperrins and Rosetta’s Song which were featured in Red Bull Warm Up competition and Idil Mese & Da Poet got to record their single "Infatuation" in Red Bull Berlin Studios with sound engineer and producer Christian Prommer. The studio experience was filmed by Red Bull and the music video of the single will be released in February 2017. The duo announced their name as Rain Lab for the first time in Red Bull Music Academy Radio, performing their songs live exclusively for the show. Giving concerts in Berlin and Istanbul, Rain Lab performed in Klunkerkranich, Soho House Berlin, Zorlu PSM, Ofen Bar and Kallasch&. The duo got especially a local attention with their opening act performance for Kadebostany in Istanbul. While singer-songwriter Idil Mese performed solo previously in UK, Germany, USA and Turkey, Da Poet performed in Switzerland, Germany, Israel and Turkey with his solo electronic act. Da Poet performed in festivals and concerts with Gaslamp Killer, Chinese Man, Mount Kimbie, Araabmuzik, Daedelus and many more. Idil Mese was featured as a songwriter and vocalist in Oceanvs Orientalis’ EP “Indoor Voyager” which was released from BAR25 Records.The song that she wrote for Oceanvs Orientalis “The Cube” was remixed by Acid Pauli and got international recognition. Inspired by artists such as Björk, Portishead, Dutch, Massive Attack and many more, the duo occasionally hosts a multi-instrumentalist on stage.
Rain Lab İstanbul kökenli yeni jenerasyon trip hop ve dünya müziği ikilisidir. Aşkın ve kaybetmenin, güzellik ve hakikatin hikayelerini modern zaman ozanları gibi sakinlikle anlatırken, işin içine elektronik müziği katarlar. Hiphop DJ’yi ve prodüktörü Da Poet’in nazik ritimleriyle, şarkı-şarkısözü yazarı İdil Meşe’nin uzak ve hüzünlü vokalleri birleşir ve sonuç dinleyiciyi kırılgan ve duygusal yoğunluğu yüksek bir seyahate çıkarır. Rain Lab şu an Noiseist Records’dan Şubat 2017’de çıkacak ilk EP’lerini kaydediyor. Duo olarak müzik kariyerine İdil Meşe & Da Poet diye başlayan trip hop ikilisi, Red Bull Warm Up yarışmasında Mountain Sperrins ve Rosetta’s Song şarkılarını duyurdular. Red Bull Berlin stüdyolarında kayıt yapma imkanı elde eden İdil Meşe & Da Poet, Infatuation isimli teklilerini ses mühendisi ve prodüktör Christian Prommer ile kaydetti. İkilinin stüdyo deneyimi Red Bull tarafından filmleştirildi ve Şubat 2017’de tekliyle birlikte yayınlanacak. İdil Meşe ve Da Poet isimlerini Rain Lab olarak ilk defa Red Bull Music Academy Radio’sundaki performansları sırasında açıkladı. Berlin ve İstanbul’da konser veren Rain Lab, Klunkerkranich, Soho House Berlin, Zorlu PSM, Ofen Bar ve Kallasch&’de çaldılar.
