Pakistan defeated South Africa by 19 runs on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method in their Group B Champions Trophy match at Edgbaston and so maintain their hopes of a semi-final place. Hasan Ali was the star of the show for Pakistan with a haul of 3/24, but it was Imam Wasim’s two wickets of Hashim Amla (16) and AB de Villiers (0) for a golden duck that turned the the game. Only David Miller, with 75 not out, offered any top-order resistance as he rescued the Proteas from a precarious position at 118/6. Chasing 220, debutant Fakhar Zaman played some aggressive cricket as he raced to 31 off 23 balls as Pakistan got off to a great start. However, Morne Morkel’s double strike put the Proteas back on top before Mohammad Hafeez and Babar Azam steadied the ship with a solid stand.
