CHILD BRIDE (also known as CHILD BRIDE OF THE OZARKS) is a 1938 exploitation film directed by Harry Revier and produced by Raymond L. Friedgen. The film was promoted as educational and as an attempt to draw attention to the lack of laws banning child marriage in many states (even though its true intention was to make money as an exploitation movie). To this day, many who have watched the film find its subject matter too upsetting.
CHILD BRIDE has the distinction of being one of the only films banned from being shown on "Mystery Science Theater 3000", with the reason being given that the film was "too awful and disturbing" by the show, saying that viewers would need a "good cry and a shower" after watching the film.
CHILD BRIDE starred Shirley Mills, who also starred in the film "The Grapes of Wrath" with Henry Fonda.
CHILD BRIDE also starred Angelo Rossitto as the dwarf, who later went on to star in the film "Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome", playing the role of Master of the character Master Blaster.
