RAWALPINDI: As many as 20 suspects were rounded up and a large quantity of weapons recovered during joint operations carried out across the country under Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad, ARY News reported on Monday.

The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the army, said 20 suspects were arrested during the joint search operations carried out in the surrounding areas of Kharian and Sarai Alamgir and a large quantity of illegal weapons and ammunition were recovered from their possession.

The ISPR said the personnel of Pakistan Rangers Punjab, CTD, Police and intelligence agencies participated in the joint operations.

Lately, the Frontier Corps Balochistan had conducted an intelligence based operation in the province, killing two wanted militants of Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) in a shootout.

They were involved in attacking armed forces, targeted killings, kidnapping for ransom and planting explosive devises in Quetta, Margate and Sangaan areas of Balochistan, security sources said.

In another search operation, the security forces recovered large quantity of weapons and ammunition in villages Nizkan Khel, Razin and Nazar Khel of South Waziristan Agency and village Kaskai of Lower Dir, village Sirigal of Chitral and various areas of Darra Adam Khel.

The weapons included SMGs, Saklia gun, missiles, 12 bore rifles, grenades, communication equipment, binoculars, ammunition of various calibers including 82 MM mortar and 12.7 mm rounds, rockets of RPG7, rounds of Draganov, switches, detonators and 14.5 ammunition.
