The US Missile Defense Agency successfully intercepted a missile during a test of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system on July 11.According to the Missile Defense Agency news release, a ballistic missile target was launched by the US Air Force over the Pacific Ocean north of Hawaii. The THAAD system successfully detected, tracked and shot down a target over Kodiak, Alaska.This came following North Korea’s launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile on July 4.
