O.J. Simpson looks set for release when he appears before Nevada’s parole board.

The former American football star has served nine years after an attempt to steal momentos from his career at gunpoint from two sports memorabilia collectors at a Las Vegas hotel.

The parole board must rule on where O.J. lives if released; Simpson’s prefered location is Florida.

Dan Hill is a Nevada defence lawyer: “I think if he keeps being a model parolee like he was a model prisoner I see no reason why it shouldn’t happen.”

However, one factor which could weigh against his seemingly tight case for parole is the infamy that still surrounds Simpson’s acquittal for the double murder of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and friend Ron Goldman.

The bodies were discovered stabbed and slashed to death in June 1994.

The case and subsequent trial gripped the Unites States

A civil court later found Simpson liable for the deaths and awarded millions of dollars in damages to the victims families it remains largely unpaid.
