According to a report by two English news channels, four months after United Progressive Alliance (UPA) came to power in 2004, Sonia Gandhi wrote a letter to then Finance Minister P Chidambaram to the financiers of Tehelka News Portal. The news channels claim that they have written a letter in which Sonia Gandhi had instructed in the ongoing probe against Tehelka's financier company First Global. दो अंग्रेजी समाचार चैनलों ने की एक रिपोर्ट के अनुसार संयुक्त प्रगतिशील गठबंधन (UPA) के 2004 में सत्ता में आने के चार महीने बाद सोनिया गांधी ने तत्कालीन वित्त मंत्री पी चिदंबरम को तहलका न्यूज पोर्टल के फाइनेंसरों के लिए पत्र लिखा था। समाचार चैनलों का दावा है कि उनके हाथ वो पत्र लगा है जिसमें सोनिया गांधी ने तहलका की फाइनेंसर कंपनी 'फर्स्ट ग्लोबल' के खिलाफ चल रही जांच के मामले में निर्देश दिए थे। बता दें कि उस वक्त तहलका के संपादक तरुण तेजपाल थे जो फिलहाल बलात्कार के मामले में जमानत पर हैं।
