Comcast wants to buy 21st Century Fox's movie studio

Comcast is setting its sights on 21st Century Fox's movie studio and some of its cable channels, the same assets that Disney previously showed interest in. Those assets include Sky and Star India, the National Geographic, and FX's cable channels. If a deal were to work, Fox would be left with Fox News Channel, sports channels, the Fox broadcast network and other TV stations. Analyst Michael Nathanson commented on the deal, saying: "Maybe, just maybe, the company is acknowledging that the outlook for film has changed from an ok business to a bad business for everyone not owning a massive stable of global franchises." Comcast recently bought NBCUniversal's cable channels and movie studio back in 2013. It's becoming increasingly common for U.S. cable and telecom companies to buy up media assets and launch advertising businesses.
