We know that the Earth, Mercury, Venus, and Mars, etc together build a star system in which one is the center and shines to the others. The others revolve around the central star and receive its light.
How big is a star system? The speed of light is approximately 300,000km/s. It takes 8 minutes for light from the Sun to reach the Earth, and it takes 250 minutes to reach the far end of the Sun system (Neptune).
Today, people sent VOYAGER satellite into outside the Sun system. It is wandering aimlessly in space. And they put a gold plate with pictures of humans on, so that if any person who catches this satellite will know that there is life in the universe. When the satellite discovers anything, it will send the signal to the Earth;however, it takes time to do so.
