theKorkus is a veteran Austin band whose sound ranges from classic arena and grunge rock to funk grooves and energetic punk to downright weird, but always engaging - a sound they describe as “somewhere between Bad Company and Bad Brains”. Fred Schultz (guitar), Jim Cherry (vocals), and Andy Wood (drums) met in Houston in the early 90s and formed a band called Joyfinger, and quickly landed a record contract with Priority records, moving to Austin together to be famous rock stars. While that did not work out exactly as planned, they've remained close collaborators ever since, along with long-time South Austin friends Dr. Donovan Sigerfoos (bass) and Eric Leikam (guitar). Over the years they’ve continued to write songs and develop their sound, playing in various garages, coffeehouses, nightclubs and parking lots, and today share a musical friendship that has never been stronger, or more creative. The band plans to record a fresh batch of songs this year, and if the stars are in alignment, to assist the rise of the Deep Ones and take over the earth.
