PRESENTED BY REGGIE BRAYDON

Edmonton singer/songwriter Kimberley MacGregor has the drive to tackle a few more projects than most musicians dare to juggle. That she currently performs with The Living Daylights, The Tubsteppers, Cadence and Nathan, and The Great North Blues Band is yet little surprise when one discovers what the power and depth of her voice can do for a band.

Growing up in a musical home, at an early age MacGregor joined the other members of her family in the church choir. But it wasn’t all gospel; a classically trained singer, she also remembers singing along to her parents’ albums, harmonizing with great vocalists like Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young or Simon and Garfunkel.

The range of her many influences is apparent – soul, folk, classical, R & B, jazz – yet the sultry unique synthesis of her voice is all her own.

Not until her late twenties did MacGregor realize that the true direction and culmination of her musical energy would require that she sing her own songs. Now, just a few years later, she released her debut album, True. And true to her roots, the album attempts to provide the complete picture of what she has learned and where she is headed. With Doug Organ on keys, Nathan Burns on dobro, Harry Gregg on bass, Matt Blackie on drums, and MacGregor herself on guitar and vocals, the album takes shape. The addition of Ethan Markwart on trombone, and Sam Toms on sax completes the picture.
