PRESENTED BY LEAH HOBBS

Dylan Gardner has arrived in grand fashion with ADVENTURES IN REAL TIME, an effortlessly joyous debut blazing bright with melodic flair, forward-thinking fervor, and century grasp of musical history. Having come of age with the entirely of the pop a 21st continuum at his fingertips, the 17-year-old singer/songwriter/producer has been able to inhale and process the rock canon in the same time it took previous generations to peruse the D-G bin in their local record store. With The Beatles hovering high as his

lodestar, Gardener took inspiration from contemporaries like Vampire Weekend, The Black Keys, and Foster The People while simultaneously immersing himself in the deep, rich archives of folk rock, psychedelia, rockabilly, freakbeat, alt rock, sunshine pop, electronica, and such like-minded troubadours as Harry Nilsson, Elliott Smith, and Ben Folds. As a result, songs like "Let's Get Started" and the brilliantly soulful "Sing For The Stars" are rooted in tradition but as current as tomorrow, their timeless hooks animated by eclectic beats, vivid production and modernist energy. Melding sophisticated, disciplined songcraft with quick wit and irrepressible spirit, ADVENTURES IN REAL TIME is a testament to the talented young tunesmith's resolute belief in the enduring power of pop.

"It's a celebration of great music," Gardner says, "music that doesn't insult your intelligence."

Once Dylan focused on the task of songwriting, he was hooked. He became an inexhaustible tunesmith, a 24-7 font of ideas and lyrics and melodies. Before long his teenage bedroom had transformed into a Pro Tools-equipped home studio, his closet the ideal vocal booth as he tracked what became 2012's debut EP, MORNING STORIES.

MORNING STORIES opened the door to offices at a number of major labels, and though he didn't sign any deals, it gained Gardner both valuable experience and an introduction to his current manager. Empowered by his support team, Gardner pushed himself even harder. The 15-year-old artist unleashed song after song, exploring the limits of his ability, imagination, and equipment by writing and recording an incredible nine albums of increasingly more distinctive pop rock 'n' roll. With material gathering by the day, Gardner began to focus on what would become his full-length debut album. Rather than starting from scratch in a traditional studio, he decided to build upon his inventive home recordings by enlisting a co-producer to help "color them in." The choice of veteran composer/musician/producer John Dragonetti was made simple by a few spins of the Los Angeles-based producer's work in such indie-pop combos as Jack Drag and The Submarines.

Gardner spent summer 2013 recording ADVENTURES IN REAL TIME in his own inimitable fashion, laying down near-complete tracks in his ever-expanding bedroom studio before passing them on to co-producer Dragonetti for additional input and instrumentation.

The result is crisp, colorful, and cutting edge, expertly uniting lo-fi ingenuity with a freewheeling rhythmic sensibility and IMAX-sized sonics. "Too Afraid To Love You" features a one-take demo vocal that Gardner rightly describes as "unbelievably manic," while the orchestrated album closer, "Invincible," wraps the proceedings on a bold note of baroque bombast.

Not surprisingly, Gardner is already nose to the grindstone writing and recording songs for his next album. For now, ADVENTURES IN REAL TIME marks an unforgettable introduction to a gifted new artist in the first flush of a prolific creative life, alive with innocence and ambition, promise and excitement.
