U.S. Retail Holiday Sales See Biggest Increase Since 2011 2017 was a great year for retailers. A report from Mastercard SpendingPulse said holiday sales jumped 4.9 percent higher than this time last year. Online retail shopping jumped 18.1 percent , as well. Electronics and appliances sales saw the biggest increase in 10 years with 7.5 percent growth. Online retail giant, Amazon, reported a record all-time high global shopping with over 4 million users creating Prime accounts or paid memberbships in just one week.
