Is bodybuilding too consuming to have a healthy relationship? And should you have sex before a competition?

Bodybuilding is a lifestyle which is a positive way of saying that bodybuilding consumes every aspect of your life. Some would call it obsessive. Others would call it a healthy obsession. Whatever you want to call it - it's a big force that takes up a lot of space in a person's life. So how does that affect relationships? Especially if your partner is not a bodybuilder his or herself? And even if you expand that beyond romance - friendships, family, and work relationships may all suffer (or thrive) due to the lifestyle change that is bodybuilding in your life.

Akim Williams and Margarita Ventura, both professional competitors, dive deep into their past experiences with romantic, sexual, and plutonic relationships... and how bodybuilding has affected them for better or worse. Is there room for someone else when bodybuilding has such a huge focus on self and self improvement?

Akim and Margarita also tackle a bonus question often connected with romantic relationships and bodybuilding - should you have sex before a competition? The last week of competition prep can be a very challenging, stressful, and emotional time. Does sex help relieve that stress and compete better? Or is it a distraction taking away from perfecting your physique on the stage? Watch the full episode above then join the debate in the comments!
