The guards pushed Bertrand into an adjacent room, while his mother Julie Bertrand, suddenly began screaming
Bureau of Independent Investigation say that the 18-year-old had managed to seize the special constable's telescopic stick and hit him on the head
Footage showed a constable raise his gun and shoot the teen as his mother and cousin began crying hysterically
Bertrand, who survived the shooting after the bullet narrowly missed his eye and brain, remains in a stable condition in hospital

A teen was shot in the head in front of own mother during a tussle with a court constable in Canada.

Steven Bertrand, 18, was at Maniwaki courthouse, in Quebec, at around 1pm on Wednesday for his sentencing hearing for an unrelated crime, when he reportedly got into an argument with the special constable.

His cousin, Christoper Lacaille, said Bertrand had wanted to go out to the courtyard for a cigarette. But when the guards refused, he became 'violent and aggressive.'
