DIRECTORS NOTE: While I understand that the use of certain terms/pronouns are important to many transgender or gender-nonconforming people, the film was never intended to be a reflection of anyones experiences other than the main charer, who is fictional. I prefer to let viewers interpret my work in their own way. Maybe Sam is transgender, maybe she is a lesbian who likes to wear more masculine clothing, maybe shes just a tomboy. The point remains the same: Sam should be who she (or he, as the case may be) wants to be. Even if Sam does identity as a boy in the end, referring to the charer as such in the synopsis could potentially be confusing for those who arent familiar with the terminology, which isnt always black and white, even for allies of the LGBT community. We are ALL learning and I hope the film continues to generate awareness and discussion!
