Xi Jinping’s prediction that China is bound for glory met with a rapturous response from the party congress: "Finally we again have a Great Helmsman!” To lift China out of its position as the world’s biggest producer of cheap goods, the regime has launched a new master plan: Made in China 2025, an ambitious initiative covering the country’s most important industrial sectors. It aims to push 10 of them - including the automotive industry, high-performance trains, pharmaceuticals, aircraft construction and Artificial Intelligence - into the world's top echelons. Beijing is staking everything on a policy that economists are calling Planned Economy 4.0.
