The encounter killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud occurred on 13 January 2018, in the eastern suburbs of Karachi, following the encounter carried out by Rao Anwar.[1] Mehsud was charged with militancy and links with Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.[2] The claim was contested by the relatives and subsequently an inquiry team was formed to investigate the killing.[3][4] The investigation found that Mehsud was innocent and killed in a fake encounter.[5]
