Therapist Talks: Introduction To DBT-Mindfulness Skills

This video will take some self-discipline, as not only do I introduce DBT Mindfulness, but ask you to practice this as I lead you for about 10 minutes. I think that an experience may help the skill make more sense, and be easier to incorporate into your life.

Research on the benefits of Mindfulness has exploded in recent years. The regular practice of mindfulness has been shown to:

Increase emotional regulation
Decrease distraction and rumination
Increase activity in the brain region associated with positive emotions
Decrease anger and emotional irritability
Decrease depression and anxiety
Increase immune function

I think it helps us to live our lives more fully, honestly, and with more aliveness. I'd love to hear how mindfulness practices have helped you.
