My Story: http://championsneverquit.com/2009/01/what-does-it-mean-to-be-champion.html
"When you choose to do your best in the most difficult of situations says to me that you are a Champion...." -Tim McGaffin II
When I was 8 years old and in 2nd grade during the 1987-88 school year I first started watching NBA basketball and the Utah Jazz which included John Stockton, Karl Malone, Thurl Bailey, Mark Eaton, Bobby Hansen among others.
The best team in the NBA at the time in my view was the Los Angeles Lakers which included Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Kareem Abdul-Jabber among others.
The Jazz at the time were working hard on becoming the best themselves.
However I remember that it seemed whenever the Jazz played the Lakers, the Jazz got beat badly every time.
One game in particular I remember seeing John Stockton and Karl Malone playing extremely hard. They were playing so hard with such a sense of urgency I thought we were on the verge of winning the game until the score and the time left in the game appeared on the T.V. screen.
When the score and time appeared there were less than a few minutes remaining at the end of the 4th quarter and the Jazz were getting beat very badly again.
However despite being blown out Stockton and Malone and the rest of the Jazz did not give up and continued to play as hard as they possibly could until the game completely ended.
There is something to be said for those of us who continue to fight on at the end of our personal 4th quarters when it appears that all hope may even be lost.
What is says to me is that you are a Champion and since you are a Champion you are the best and since you are the best your Victory is at hand...
