The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) said a tornado touched down in Faro, Algarve, on Sunday, March 4.Video from Algarve residents, shared on social media, showed damage to buildings and downed trees in the wake of the storm that the IMPA said was a F1 tornado on the Fujita scale. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said an F1 tornado could generate winds of between 73-112 mph.Diario de Noticias reported that the storm caused damage to homes, a shopping mall and a football stadium in Faro. This is the second time in less than a week the city has been hit by a tornado, according to the Portuguese daily newspaper.This video shows damage to a car dealership in Faro and downed trees.
