Purpose: Help children (ages ~ 2 to 6) memorize American English Alphabet Song and help them to think of which letter is next. Pre-requisites: Child knows some of The ABC Song or shows interest in learning it. Materials: Find wooden cut out ABC letters at \r
\r
or you can use paper to draw and cut out each letter (and use mailing tape to laminate). Teaching Points: Use a slow cadence while signing. Enunciate clearly. Slowly model that you are focusing and concentrating while searching for the next letter. Anticipation is a fun part of this game for children. Allow time for child to find the next letter. Have Fun! Outcomes: Repetition, increasing concentration time, singing voice, memorization of the ABC Song letter sequence. Avoid adding and or n between Y and Z! Children are confused when they learn .w, x,y,n, z. More basic: use 7 letters (a to g). More Advanced: Play hide and seek with the next letter in the sequence (make it easy to find the next letter - its okay if the child sees where you hide the letter -the purpose is to mentally consolidate the sequence - not look for letters). \r
