Canada's health system is a source of pride for many Canadians. But we pay more for prescription drugs than almost every other country in the world -- and rising drug costs are taking their toll on people across the country. Canada is the only country in the world that has universal health care but no universal drug coverage.

That means millions of Canadians cannot afford live-saving medication: they are splitting their pills, cutting back on their prescriptions, going deep into debt– and sometimes, even dying. The Fifth Estate investigates the rising cost of pharmaceuticals in Canada.
