6. 2017 Aston Martin Valkyrie\r
Working in collaboration with Red Bull Racing, Aston Martin developed the 1000 horsepower Valkyrie, which was only officially named in March of this year. The Valkyrie is considered Aston Martins version of a hypercar, but what does that mean? Supercars are, by definition, the cars equipped with the best technology has to offer. Hypercars are the top 1% or 2% of those cars. With that kind of exclusivity and technological equipment, youve probably already guessed that this luxury vehicle comes with a hefty price tag. To have one of these made for you, youll have to shell out $3.2 million.\r

5. new Lykan Hypersport\r
As the first Arab supercar by W Motors, based in Dubai, this car was built to impress. It boats a 750 horsepower engine and can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds. Its top speed has been clocked at 245 miles per hour. That kind of power commands a high price anyway, but W Motors took their design a step further. The headlights are surrounded by white gold and covered in diamonds. Thats standard, but if you so choose, you can have the rest of the Lykan Hypersport decked out in any number of precious gems like sapphires, emeralds or rubies to complement the body and interior color of the supercar. The Lykan takes its design inspiration from the Arabic symbol for 7, which looks like a V, and is a lucky number. To own one of these--and only seven were made of course--youll have to have access to $3.4 million.\r

4. 2017 McLaren P1 LM\r
The McLaren P1 LM is the road-legal version of the original, made possible by the changes of Lanzarote Motorsport. The body was kept mostly the same, with fluid lines and a sloping windshield and spoiler, reducing drag and increasing the cars aerodynamics; however, the LM version is lighter than its predecessor. The LM kept the 986 horsepower and is capable of a top speed of 217 miles per hour. In just 2.4 seconds, the P1 LM can go from 0 to 60. McLaren only made six of these cars. Five of which will be for sale. Four of the for-sale models will be a bright racing orange, while only one model will be the dark, sleek grey shown in most photos. To own one of the five for-sale models, youll have to pay $4 million.\r

3. new Lamborghini Veneno\r
Everything about this car takes it to the extreme. The body is fitted with an unmistakeable Lamborghini front and headlights, coming to a dangerously sharp arrowhead point. It was designed to make the driver feel like he or she is flying on the road and was crafted with aerodynamics in mind. And yes, this supercar is ually road legal. The Veneno sits just inches from the ground and has a sloping windshield to cut down on drag and increase stability. It was based on the Lamborghini Aventador design, which could reach 60 mph in under three seconds, but is nearly 300 pounds lighter. Plus, only three of them were ever made. For a car like this, youll have to pay $4.5 million. For its predecessor, the Aventador, youll only need $400,000.\r

2. 2004 Maybach Exelero Gold Edition\r
Hands down, the Maybach Exelero is the most expensive car in the world. The Exelero has a top speed of nearly 220 miles per hour, powered by an engine of 700 horsepower. This luxury vehicle can take you from 0 to 60 in just 4 seconds. The model was originally designed and built in 2004 for Fulda Tyres, the German branch of Goodyear, who needed a vehicle to put their tires to the ultimate test. The design was then made available to the public. Today, the most famous Maybach is owned by rapper Jay-Z, who featured his car in the music video for “Lost One.” Then again, Jay Z has an estimated $810 million net worth as of this year, so is it really any surprise he would own the most expensive car in the world?\r

1. 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO\r
Okay, most of the cars on this list have been produced in recent years. But the most expensive supercar ever sold was ually produced in 1962, because the only thing that could make a supercar more expensive is for it to be vintage. The car was originally designed to race and beat the Jaguar E Type and was the only racing car debuted in 1962 to feature a front-engine design. It has a top speed of 173 miles per hour and for car enthusiasts, it is considered to be the “holy grail” of sports cars. In 1962, it sold new for $18,000, equivalent to $150,000 today.
