10. St. Louis Arch Topper\r
Of course, someone was going to take a picture of that epic supermoon over the St. Louis Arch in Missouri. \r
\r
9. Surfing Moon\r
Its out of focus, but just looking at the picture carefully, you can see that thats a surfer riding the waves with the super moon right over them. The picture was taken as over Many Beach in Sydney, Australia in September new. Instead of just looking like any old picture someone happened to snap at the beach that day, it looks so well planned and thought out. To be honest, it should be on a shirt or poster or something. \r

8. Moonlights\r
If youre a lover of light, then this photo will probably be a good highlight to your day. Thats of course a photo of the moon taken over the streets of Fort Collins, Colorado in new.\r

7. Gherkin Moon\r
More officially named St. Mary Axe, this scene looks like an aerial shot out of a Christopher Nolan or Sam Mendes . The photo was of course taken outside the nicknamed Gherkin in the city of London. The whisp of cloud just adds a certain austereness to it.\r

6. Lady Liberty\r
This was taken during the supermoon of new, next to probably the most iconic statue in the United States. Lady Liberty just happens to be holding a torch that lined up nicely with the overly bright moon that year.\r

5. Moon Dish\r
Circles are considered a human invention and have been implemented in a lot of structurally sound inventions. Heres a full moon--which looks like a blood moon--sitting on a satellite dish. Theres something oddly satisfying about this. Perhaps its just the f someone had the angle just right. Studies have shown that human eyes tend to be more pleased at round shapes than at sharper ones, so it makes sense that theres something really appealing this, even if you cant really explain why.\r

4. Quoth the Raven\r
As you can see, theres almost an endless amount of really cool pictures of a blood moon. And why not? It looks awesome in real life--if not a little eerie. Its hard enough to photograph birds as most of them are incredibly perceptive of their surroundings and, no pun intended, are incredibly flighty. So its a wonder how someone managed to get this photo of two birds against a very vibrant blood moon. Its the perfect homage to Edgar Allen Poe, most likely not even meaning to be. \r

3. Handheld\r
That is a statue of Vladimir Lenin holding the moon in his right hand. No matter how you feel about that, thats a perfectly timed moment, if any. The picture was taken from the statue in Baikonur, Kazakhstan as the moon was nearly full.\r

2. Rainbow Lunar Eclipse\r
This lunar eclipsed just happened to occur the same time as the winter solstice. Its a phenomenon that only occurs every 2,000 years and this one occurred on December 21, new. The coincidence resulted in the moon looking spectacularly warm and colorful, almost as if it was something other than the only moon humans on earth have ever known.\r

1. Many Moons\r
Of course, the cake has got to go to NASA and this multi-exposure camera. The image was taken at the Johnson Space Center of the blood moon lunar eclipse on April 15, new. The next time the United States would see a full lunar eclipse like this would be in 2019, so it was definitely a special moment this photographer captured.
