1000 Day Crypto Challenge Day 8: Spacechain and looking into the future

Space Chain brings blockchain technology into space, adding a new dimension to blockchain’s core concept of distributed ledger by making use of space technology and advantages of space resources. As a space blockchain platform featuring data collecting, computing, application and storage, Space Chain uses satellites as its blockchain nodes for realizing direct on-satellite data processing and secure in-space data storage through cryptographic technologies such as quantum communications.
# Whats the purpose?
Different from ground-network-based blockchain technology, Space chain provides a broader coverage and is based on a network of LEO satellites for achieving broad-based connectivity so that anyone and anything could become the user of blockchain technology anywhere and anytime. Space Chain has already integrated the quantum-secured blockchain node into a Nanosat to be launched by the end of this year and it will be the world’s first space-based blockchain node.
The project plan is to launch 3 validation satellites and open the blockchain test platform to the world in 2018. Another 4 satellites for blockchain services will be launched in 2019 to realize primary application and then a constellation of 72 blockchain-based satellites will be deployed in the following years to realize full application. The project has attracted top experts in space and blockchain technology from the US, Europe and China and a large group of young people who aspire to make a difference in the world. It will further promote the application of cutting-edge space and blockchain technologies and explore the development of blockchain technology on the Moon, the Mars and in deep space.
