Johnny Moore - Walk Like A Man

Here, Johnny Moore sings his Northern Soul anthem from the days of The Torch, "Walk Like A Man". Johnny was a wonderful soul singer from Chicago, who made many great records for Bright Star and Blue Rock. His "Sold On You" is one of my personal favourite records of all time. It became confusing because there was also a Johnny Moore who was the lead singer of the Drifters, and another Johnny Moore who was a famous Chicago bluesman, so maybe Johnny should have changed his name for more mainstream recognition. This was yet another legendary Northern Soul smash that we filmed for "The Strange World Of Northern Soul". It was first recorded in 1967 and then we recut it in 1998. We tracked Johnny down to make this one and only one-time performance especially for us, for our ground breaking Encyclopedia Britannica of Northern Soul, and I am so glad that we did. Sadly he has now passed away but I'm so glad we have this gem to remember him by.
