Malaysia's former ruler and opposition leader Mahathir Mohamad has returned to power by winning a stunning victory in the country's general election.
Official results show, Mahathir's opposition alliance won 121 seats, passing the threshold of 112 needed to form a government.
It marks a landmark shift in power, ending the 60-year rule of Prime Minister Najib Razak's National Front party.
Mahathir will be sworn in later Thursday and at age 92, will become the eldest elected leader in the world.
