'Spiderman' rescues woman from burning building

This is the dramatic moment a hero neighbour rescued a stranded woman calling for help from a burning building.

Flames ripped through the colonial style home in Yangon, Burma, on May 5 - leaving dozens trapped inside.

The woman, named San Thien, had been working in a tour company's offices and was left crouching on the window ledge screaming for help as they waited for fire crews to arrive.

But brave onlooker Pyae Nway, 30, clambered up to the third floor room and carried San down as smoke billowed from the room. Other trapped residents were seen climbing out of windows and traversing down scaffolding poles.

Pyae said: ''I heard people shouting 'I'm going to jump, I'm going to jump' so I climbed up to help.''

Pyae - who has been dubbed 'Spiderman' for his heroic actions - said he could not leave the woman to perish in the fire.

He added: ''I didn't think there was time to wait for the fire brigade. The woman's life was at risk. I just did what was needed to make sure she was safe.''

Myanmar Fire Services Department said the blaze was extinguished around ten minutes after the arrived and that nobody was injured.
