Dash-cam video has emerged of two men fleeing police on foot after crashing their vehicle into the side of an HGV in Leighton Buzzard, England.

Video shows a silver Vauxhall Corsa overtaking the dash-cam vehicle - also an HGV - before crashing at a roundabout on Billington Road in Leighton Buzzard, heading towards the A505.

Writes the owner of the dash-cam vehicle, also an HGV: "The Corsa brakes very hard towards the end of the road, causing the driver to lose control, sliding (and) then slamming into the side of an HGV waiting to proceed at the junction.

As the Corsa crashes into the HGV, a burst of flames appears from the car's front.

Police sirens can then be heard.

"Two male passengers emerge from the vehicle. One makes an instant getaway whilst the other passenger gathers some belongings before making a half-hearted attempt to run," writes the dash-cam owner.

"The police arrive seconds later and give chase by foot. Off-camera we are led to believe one of the males was caught and arrested."

Although the video dates from 2016, it has only now emerged online.

In a remarkable coincidence, Bedfordshire Police said that the police vehicle was not in pursuit at the time but happened to be passing by. The collision had occurred prior to police arriving, all occupants having already decamped.

According to the police, the decamped driver was untraced.

One of the alleged occupants was arrested as he was "wanted/missing."

The police confirmed that the vehicle was uninsured and that the incident was "filed" but no further action brought.
