Govind Namdeo's Bollywood Journey

Born 3 September 1950 the famous villain of Bollywood Govind Namdev made his debut as a corrupt cop in David Dhawan's Shola Aur Shabnam starring Govinda, Divya Bharti, Anupam Kher and Bindu in the year 1992. He has acted in numerous critically acclaimed movies, often as a villain in well-regarded performances. He is an alumnus of the National School of Drama in 1977. He acted in several superhit movies like Aankhen (1993), Sarfarosh (1999), Pukar (2000), Garv: Pride and Honour (2004), Sarkar Raj (2008), Wanted (2009), Singham (2011) and many others. Some of his most notable work has been in films like Oh My God, Dum Maro Dum, Bandit Queen, Virasat, Satya, Kachche Dhaage, Mast and Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani. His role in 2012 movie OMG Oh My God starring Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal will always be remembered. He feels characters like Birju Thakur from Virasat, Roop Sahai from Prem Granth and Veeran from Sarfarosh are some of his most favourite and memorable roles that he played on screen. Namdev was also nominated for Filmfare Best Villain Award for Satya in 1999. He received Madhya Pradesh Ratna and Maharashtra Kala Niketan Film Award as well for his tremendous piece of work in Hindi cinema.
