What are the challenges of being a young writer?

Its not so much about Khanna's age as it is about the timing of his idea.

Question: What are the challenges of being a young writer?
Parag Khanna: Well typically folks who write this kind of book are younger people who can endure a couple of years of grueling travel in a lot of countries. I think you are referring to being young and writing a very ambitious book theoretically or academically or intellectually.
I have no idea what I am going to confront because the book [The Second World: Empires and Influence in the New Global Order] hasn't come out yet. But early responses suggest I was in right to give a lecture at Princeton. I did blogging heads, this morning with Dan Resino, who was a very senior academic, a tough fixture, and he has his own website and blog and he is taking it very seriously. A lot of professors have said to me, they are going to assign the book. So they don't seem to care about my age at all.
I think that what happens really is not so much of function of judging who I am, but rather the nature of the timing. This article and this book is really coming out at the moment when people are saying, if American power is permanently fading, that we were still very strong, what comes next or what system replaces the American dominated system? And there isn't a good answer to that question. But I have been working on that question, and it has been one of my motivations for a few years now. Let us come up with that answer.
So I think the timing is just right. And so what matters is, last who is delivering the message, then what the message is.
