Hiding Vegetables in a Shepherd's Pie Recipe | How We Eat

Vicky (Mummy Bubble) loves making her two girls shepherd's pie... But she also loves to hide lots of vegetables in it - so the girls don't notice! Her family recipe for shepherd's pie quickly became the hidden veg shepherd's pie!

Recipe

- Fry 500g lamb mince in a wide-based saucepan until brown.

- Add diced or grated carrot and onion, fry for a couple of minutes.

- Add one tin chopped tomatoes or jar of passata and a beef stock cube.

- Add a dash of Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer.

- Meanwhile add diced potato chunks to boiling water in a pan. Simmer for around 15 to 20 minutes until soft.

- Mash potato and add milk and generous knob of butter.

- Put pie mixture into a oven-proof dish and layer the mash on top.

- Bake in the oven at 170C for around 25 minutes until mash begins to turn golden.

- Cool for five minutes and then serve with peas.
