Sarah Sanders on Thursday had a tense exchange with CNN's Jim Acosta during a press briefing.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Thursday had a tense exchange with CNN's Jim Acosta, and at one point, she remarked that he has trouble understanding even short sentences. Acosta had mentioned Attorney General Jeff Sessions' assertion that there is biblical justification for separating children "from their families as they come across the border" and asked, "where does it say in the Bible that it's moral to take children away from their mothers?"  Sanders replied, "I'm not aware of the attorney general's comments or what he would be referencing. I can say that it is very biblical to enforce the law."  After Acosta interjected with a comment about the Bible and following the law, Sanders stated, "That's not what I said and I know it's hard for you to understand even short sentences, I guess, but please don't take my words out of context."  Acosta has had quite an eventful week in terms of relations with the White House. White House counselor Kellyanne Conway made an apparent reference to him in an interview with Fox News show 'Fox & Friends.'  After viewing a video clip of Acosta asking questions about denuclearization and Otto Warmbier during the Singapore summit's signing ceremony, Conway said of cable news reporters at large, "They certainly want to make it about me, myself and I."
